Drones in America: Where's the outrage?

I have been writing in this column about the government’s use of drones and challenging their constitutionality. I once asked on air what Thomas Jefferson would have done if – had drones existed at the time – King George III had sent drones to peer inside the bedroom windows of Monticello. I suspect that Jefferson and his household would have trained their muskets on the drones and taken them down. I offer this historical anachronism as a hypothetical only, not as one who is urging the use of violence against the government.

Collapse At Hand

"...the US government’s decision to bail out the banks and to keep them afloat, and the Federal Reserve’s zero interest rate policy have put the economic future of the US and its currency in an untenable and dangerous position."

Spain Warns of Credit Freeze

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Spain's Treasury minister appealed to European leaders for financial support Tuesday, saying the country's credit markets are seizing up.
The yield on Spain's 10-year bond has been flirting dangerously close to the 7% mark that smacks of default anxiety. Over the past week, the 10-year yield has been at its highest level since November.

"The risk premium says Spain doesn't have the market door open," said Montoro. "The risk premium says that as a state we have a problem in accessing markets, when we need to refinance our debt."

Economists estimate that the Spanish government has about €800 billion in outstanding debt.

Record Number of Phd Recipients on Food Stamps

Record number of Phd recipients on food stamps

This news may be a little stale, but the message is still eye-opening to say the least. If public actually looked at what's being swept under the rug as meaningless information about USA, Inc., I suspect they'd be horrified by what they saw. This obscure headline is just another reason why Jim's statement of QE to infinity is totally correct.

Headline: Record number of Phd recipients on food stamps
Right now we have a record number of Phd recipients on food stamps and other forms of welfare. From 2007 to 2010, the number of PhD recipients receiving entitlements has tripled to 33,655 and the number of master’s degree holders on food stamps and other forms of welfare nearly tripled during that same time period to 293,029, according to an Urban Institute study cited by the Chronicle of Higher Education. This is shocking and I imagine its not what comes to mind when most people think of welfare recipients. This study proves that having multiple degrees doesn't guarantee financial success, especially when you consider the high cost of college and a move by Republicans Tuesday to block a Democratic bill to preserve low interest rates for millions of college students' loans. The Democratic bill would keep interest rates for subsidized Stafford loans at 3.4% for an additional year, rater than doubling automatically for new loans starting July 1
